Beer can duo for offshoot brewing

overview

California craft brewery The Bruery, launched their new company, Offshoot Brewing, with a series of limited edition cans from artists. The beers were playfully named “Hold my Beer” and “Watch This.” They wanted my style to be present while also representing the beer in an engaging way. Since my style revolves around information and diagrams, I knew I would want to show the beer ingredients in the artwork itself, while also referencing the beer names.

Taking the names literally, I designed a fun diagram of a hand holding a beer, and a watch on an arm. Each of the beer can designs were diagrammed to communicate the specific hops, yeast, and grain used. The subject matter of the designs created a further opportunity to playfully connect the two can designs, creating a meta diagram when the two cans were displayed together. Using the tiny Family Brue tattoo as a reference point to line up the two beers, creating the image of an outstretched arm, with a watch on, literally holding a beer.
